Dental Crowns & Bridges Columbia & Freeburg, IL

Elderly woman

A clean, white and durable crown can be used for repair of a damaged tooth or as an aesthetic improvement. When a tooth fractures or suffers an impact injury, it may be repaired by placing a crown over it. The crown will cover the entire visible tooth and protect it from further damage. Or when a tooth is badly discolored or chipped, a crown quickly restores its beauty.

In some cases, a damaged tooth might require root canal therapy first. With a crown to strengthen it, the patient can retain the function of this tooth for many years to come.

A bridge consists of two crowns with a replacement tooth (or teeth) between them to fill the gap left by the missing teeth. A bridge is a fast and very effective solution to missing teeth.

To place a bridge, the healthy teeth on either side of the gap are prepared for crowns. An impression is taken of the prepared teeth and the gap and the bridge are manufactured. When Dr. Cisneros is satisfied that the fit is correct, the bridge will be cemented in place. In just a couple of weeks, a patient’s smile can once again be complete.
